Great beaches

Some of our favourite beaches to visit...
Just around the corner, Nefyn beach is great for sand-castles, sea fun, crabbing from the sea wall, rock-pooling at the far end and even has a cafe/bakery on the way down. You can walk down 'Screw Road' or along the cliff path and down the steps.

Have a pint on the beach at the Ty Coch pub - walk there from the house, via the cliff path or drive to Morfa Nefyn, where there is a National Trust car park. Perfect for a swim, some food and a pint…or coffee! Once there, you can continue a little further to Lifeboat Bay, where the RNLI usually have the boathouse open for visitors and you may be able to spot seals on the rocks.

Popular beach with National Trust car park, toilets and very popular beach cafe. Also the Oriel Gallery for some art, shopping and another good cafe. You can walk up the hill from here to see the iron man statue on the cliff - and dare to descend the steps down to the beach!

This beach is a hidden gem, accessed either via the farm campsite (£5 parking) or from the Wales Coastal path. There are toilets at the campsite.

Local Hub

Places with a bit of holiday bustle and some popular amenities.
THE place on the peninsula to hit the shops with favourites like Crewe, Jack Wills and Joules as well as the locally popular Abersoch Boatyard. Parking tricky in the height of the season, so go early to get a space! Shops, restaurants and cafes, as well as a couple of great beaches. We like the ‘Two Islands’ ice cream cafe - all home made.

Right at the tip of the Llyn, Aberdaron boasts a broad, sandy beach as well as local amenities such as cafes, pubs and a great fish and chip shop - Sblash. A good base for a day out or for food after visiting one of its nearby beaches - we like Porth Or (National Trust car park and cafe) and Porth Iago (farm car park and toilet but a challenging descent to the lovely, sandy beach). You can drive part way up Uwch Mynydd, the large hill beside Aberdaron, for a ramble and some great views.

The main town locally, where you can find various supermarkets and other stores, as well as shops and restaurants aimed at tourists. The Marina is worth a visit and there is a great little fish shop by the main square - near SPAR.

Walks

Walks we love!
6/7 mile walk in the edge of Snowdonia, starting at a National Trust car park near Beddgelert, then walking through the mountains to Beddgelert itself (stopping for tea and cake - obviously!). Finish with a couple of miles alongside the river - spotting the steam train if you are lucky. https://www.nationaltrust.org.uk/craflwyn-and-beddgelert/trails/cwm-bychan-and-aberglaslyn-pass-walk

Walk from Heddfan, via the cliff path to Morfa Nefyn and then either along the beach or across the golf course. Stop for a pint at the Ty Coch on Porth Dinllaen and wander on to Lifeboat Bay for the RNLI shop and some seal spotting just beyond. About 5 miles there and back.

Food scene

Great food and a nice view. Located behind Wern caravan site. You can walk from the house, cutting across the mountain behind Nefyn and walking back along the beach.
