A quaint fishing village with working harbour, really lovely coast path walks and a great NT tea room. Boscastle was made famous in 2004 by a flash flood that took out most of the lower village – the footage is wild if you are interested search for it on youtube

Fowey (pronounced foye) is another quaint fishing village beloved of Daphne Du Maurier. Lots of excellent restraunts and a fun passenger ferry crossing to Polruan which is much smaller but it’s the crossing itself that is the fun bit.

Food scene

also known as Port Wenn if you are a Doctor Martin fan. Its worth a few hours if you like little fishing villages with tiny winding streets – super quaint. Also an excellent Nathan Outlaw restaurant at the harbour, definitely will need to book if you want to eat there. If you like the sound of a meal in a famous chef’s restaurant then you definitely need to go to PADSTOW, you have a couple of choices to get to Padstow all of them fun.. 1. Cycle the Camel Trail - from Blisland the trail runs all the way to Padstow – 17 miles each way. You can hire bikes at the Snails Pace Café. Or for a shorter ride drive to Wadebridge and hire a bike there (there are lots of options) and the ride is only 6 miles each way. There is a good range of restaurants there but the most famous is – THE SEAFOOD RESTAURANT – Rick Stein’s flagship.. he also has the MIDDLE STREET CAFÉ and the FISH AND CHIP SHOP by the camel trail, he has so much in PADSTOW that people call it ‘Padstein’

great walking trails

We are right on the edge of the moor with literally hundreds of miles of walks, loads of ancient sites and wild ponies .. you can walk from the Artists Studio to lots of interesting places depending on the length of walk you want, there are a couple of books in the room. Also in the room are maps, feel free to take them with you on your outings but don’t forget to leave them at the end of your stay.

Beaches

a huge expanse of sand (when the tide is out) easy to hire everything you need to surf there, and there are lots of options for surf lessons too if you feel brave, can be quite busy

one of our favourite beaches but only at low tide, at high tide there is no beach at all. Check the tide times for Boscastle as they are near each-other.
