A 90-120 minute walking tour of Stratford-upon-Avon visiting key sites in Shakespeare's life (Shakespeare's birthplace, school, grave, and other properties in the town associated with the Shakespeare story) brought to life by a genuine living Bard! Entertaining, and educational stories, poems, and anecdotes - maybe even the odd song! - will make this a colourful and unique tour. Hear the immortal words of the Swan of Avon in situ!
I became Bard of Bath in 1998 after winning an annual contest for the best storyteller, poet, or singer. Since then I have been using my bardic skills to educate and entertain. I like to offer my unique bardic tours of places I love. As a wordsmith I am particularly inspired by writers and places associated with writers. I wrote a monthly 'writers in the landscape' feature for Cotswold Life (mag). I have written several books of fiction, non-fiction, and poetry. I lecture in creative writing for the University of Leicester. While studying for my self-funded doctorate I led tours across the south-west of England and the Cotswolds (eg Bath, Stonehenge, Oxford). Since starting work at Leicester I've moved to the East Midlands, so my base of operations has shifted and I'm looking at running tours in this area - each one a unique experience!
Shakespeare's Birthplace Hall's Croft Nash's House & New Place Schoolhouse Holy Trinity Church - site of Shakespeare's christening and grave. Riverside walk along the glittering Avon - including a hand ferry crossing! Royal Shakespeare Company Optional end in classic English pub!
